Its aim is to develop cutting-edge research that not only contributes significantly to scientific advancement, but also aids innovation and global competitiveness, with a special focus on sustainability and its strategic implications.
The studies carried out in the area of concentration "Sustainability and Competitiveness" investigate factors that contribute to understanding how the phenomenon of sustainability occurs in organizations in the region where the PPGA is located, especially those related to innovation. At the same time, the studies seek to understand what factors promote the competitiveness of regionally established businesses, especially in terms of the characteristics of strategies and management. Thus, the production of knowledge is based on two complementary lines of research: one focused on sustainability and appealing to innovation, entrepreneurship and territorial dynamics, and the other on competitiveness, based on strategy and management practices.
Line 1 - Sustainability and Innovation
This line includes studies of sustainability, its conception and implementation, its influence on territorial dynamics, considering economic, environmental, social, cultural, political and institutional results in organizational and territorial contexts. Entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial orientation, innovation, innovation habitats, cooperation between organizations, sustainable operations and chains, the spatialization of economic activities and regional asymmetries are central to this understanding. Keywords: Sustainability; entrepreneurship, territorial dynamics, innovation.
Line 2 - Strategy and Management
This line includes studies on the competitiveness of organizations and business groupings with an emphasis on the formulation, process and practice of strategy. It investigates other aspects that influence competitiveness, such as the resources, capabilities and competencies of organizations, management practices such as people management, and is also interested in stakeholders, strategic behaviour, and the role of the manager in strategic management and governance.
Groups divided into 3 areas of study:
The doctorate represents the highest level of integration between theory and practice, offering an environment
ideal for the development of innovative discoveries and significant advances.
